Information regarding the history of the Kamikaze brand is unfortunately very scarce and virtually non-existent in public records. It is an extremely rare and little-known Italian brand, produced in small numbers during the 1990s—likely exclusively for the Italian (or local) market. The frames were constructed using Taiwanese-made 4130 double-butted CrMo tubing. I surmise that this was a "niche" brand—or perhaps a small Italian assembler/distributor—that launched a line of steel hardtail downhill (DH) bikes in the 90s, possibly inspired by the famous American "Mammoth Kamikaze Downhill" (the most legendary DH race of the 80s and 90s).
Then came a breakthrough: I found an old thread on MTB-Mag mentioning "Primula" in connection with a vintage Kamikaze bike featuring three brakes.
This led me to the manufacturer, Cicli Primula—a company that still produces bicycles today. I contacted them and received an immediate reply (a rarity in the cycling world, where responses are often hard to come by). The bikes were designed and built in the 90s by Roberto Girotto, the founder and owner of Cicli Primula; sadly, Roberto Girotto passed away in 2019.
The Kamikaze DH330 marks the launch of the "STAL Specialina CHEAP" line: bicycles that are accessible and smart, built without compromising on workmanship. Every component is selected to deliver reliability, fun, and character, demonstrating that the value of a "restomod" is measured not by the price of the parts, but by the care taken to transform them into a unique project.
